Kochi caters to Shutter, the critically acclaimed Malayalam movie which caught the fancy of filmmakers across industries, is currently being remade in Tamil. Actress Anumol will play the role of Thankam, which was played by Sajitha Madhathil in the original. Sajitha had bagged a State Award for her performance in the film.
The untitled movie is directed by debutant Antony, who has been a sought after editor in the industry. The film is produced by director Vijay. Rating the film's script as one of the best he has come across in the recent times, Vijay said that he is quite happy about remaking the film in Tamil. "The film's shooting has kicked off and Sathyaraj will play actor Lal's role in Tamil. I am happy that Joy Mathew, who directed the original, gave us the rights to take this story to the Tamil audience. I can't divulge other details of the project at the moment," says Vijay. Lal acted as Rasheed, an NRI, and Sajitha's character was that of a prostitute, in the Malayalam version.
Shutter, which released in 2012, was remade in Marathi by director VK Prakash recently. The film is expected to hit the screens soon.
